In order to further develop positive behaviour at school, staff will be running a Summer Fete on the final day of term - Friday 23rd July, in order to raise funds for the new Rewards Room. The room will be used to support positive behaviours, acknowledging those who are recognised for their on-going achievements and commitment to school standards.
The room will be furnished with a variety of items, selected by students along the lines of Wii consoles etc and will be offered for use at appropriate times within and out of the regular school day. Staff are uniting to offer events, stalls, activities, beat the teacher and other challenges to students during their lunch break on the day.
Students are encouraged to bring some donations in to School, so that they can contribute to raising funds for this project. We are also offering a uniform free day to students for a donation of £1 with proceeds going towards the Rewards Room.
If any parents, carers, friends and supporters would like to make a contribution to this event, contact either Mrs V Lea, Assistant Headteacher or Miss T Cotter, Head of PE. We hope that together we can make a positive contribution in celebrating our successful students.

The Music Department are collecting Tesco Computers for Schools vouchers. Please support us by depositing your vouchers in the collection box in the Main School Library.
We have been advised that there is likely to be continued traffic disruption on the Stratford Road in Roade.
The latest information is that work to widen the roadway to accommodate a third traffic lane, the movement of services where necessary and construction of a pedestrian island and bus stops is anticipated to last for 9 weeks.
There will temporary traffic lights in place 24 hours a day to enable single lane working. During peak times, lights will be manually operated.
We anticipate that this is likely to cause some delay in getting to and from the school.

- The Module 3 exam is on the 21st June 2010 – this is only 2 weeks after half term!
- It forms 27% of the final GCSE mark.
- Students’ performance in the mock exams highlighted some areas for improvement.
- Revision was one area that requires extra focus!
- Final grades can be significantly improved with a good module 3 performance.
- It is vital that all students revise thoroughly and work through the past papers over the half term.
- Use of www.mymaths.co.uk and the Mathswatch CD will help pupils practice.
- Students need to remember to bring calculators and maths equipment.
- Failure to bring the appropriate equipment will delay the start of the exam.

Year 7 Parents’ Evening has been rescheduled from Thursday 20th May to Thursday 27th May. The reason for this is that one of the Year 7 trips to Longtown is also scheduled for the same week and we would like all staff and students to be able to attend the evening.
I do hope that you are able to attend the new Parents’ Evening where you will be able to meet your son/daughters teachers and form tutor to discuss academic progress.
In addition to making appointments with individual teachers, ALL parents are strongly advised to attend one of the sessions regarding ‘Looking Ahead to Key Stages 4 and 5’. These sessions will be 20 minutes long and run by Mr. Nelson in Husbands Hall. Your son/daughter will book you into a slot for this when they make appointments with their subject teachers.

The school is moving towards providing parents with six sets of information annually showing how your son/daughter is progressing in their subjects. This information will be available online after October 2010.
To ensure that both the format of the reports and systems which surround it are appropriate we are setting up a focus group, which will include students and parents. We anticipate that it will involve you committing to a few meetings and testing out some of the software over the internet. The first meeting will take place Wednesday 3rd March between 2.00pm ~ 3.00pm.
If you are interested in joining us then please contact Zoe Fitzhugh on exams.roade@btconnect.com
We also have an online questionnaire commenting on the new format of reports that we would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete, the link for this is: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=Che3F1steev6X4JdCS5cGA_3d_3d
For the reminder of the year all reports home will be written and released on the dates below. If you have any questions or comments relating to assessment or reporting then please do not hesitate to contact me.
