Roade School Sports College is providing its sports facilities, as well as expert coaching, to young people in its community on Saturday mornings. Activities which include badminton, football, dance, electronic dance mats, netball and tennis will be delivered for both primary and secondary age pupils.
The Sport Saturday programme starts with badminton in January, with the other sports being rolled out from the second half of the Spring Term at the end of February.
Roade School Sports College is teaming up with the local School Sport Partnership to help deliver on a government strategy to get more young people participating in 5 hours of PE and sport per week.
Coaching sessions will be delivered by fully qualified instructors who concentrate on both secondary and primary age pupils in separately tailored programmes of up to ten weeks. The cost to parents works out at the equivalent of one pound per session.
The PE and Sport Strategy for Young People is providing some of the funding for this coaching programme which is all linked to the much publicised campaign for the London 2012 Olympic Games, where young people especially will be motivated and able to access more sporting opportunities.
Information on the availability of places and how to book on to this coaching programme is available from the South Northants & Daventry School Sport Partnership website
