Post 16 Prospectus

Thank you for showing an interest in joining

Roade School Sports College Sixth Form.

As Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Progress Learning Leader for Year 12 Mrs McCleery will guide you through the transition from Year 11 into Year 12. Students in the Sixth Form will follow a Skills for Life programme, which, this year, has been devised in response to the Year 12 Council and covered Ready Steady Cook, Strictly Come Dancing and Mastermind. Next year, if you wish to gain the Community Sports Leaders Award, you will be able to do this through Skills for Life lessons. Mrs McCleery will also work closely with you and your Form Tutor, using targets which are set for you based upon your GCSE results. There will be regular progress checks and Academic Monitoring to help you to make the optimum progress.

As Head of Sixth Form and Progress Learning Leader for Year 13, alongside your Form Tutor, Miss Shiels will guide you through the University application process during assemblies and Skills for Life lessons and endeavour to ensure that you are fully prepared for life after the Sixth Form.

As the most senior students in the school, our Sixth Formers are positive role models for the younger pupils and act as superb ambassadors for the school. Sixth Form students have a much greater degree of independence in managing their own learning and in organising their time. They have more privileges than main school pupils and more responsibilities too.

We are extremely proud of our Sixth Formers who volunteer their time to assist staff and students  both during and beyond the school day. At the end of Year 13 most of our students leave us to go on to University having acquired the requisite independent learning skills which are vital for success in Higher Education. As well as gaining higher level qualifications, there are lots of extra-curricular activities in which you may choose to participate. We both look forward to seeing you in the Sixth Form in September and wish you good luck in your GCSEs.
